Changing "Things" Up!!,,, and a Special Fund Raiser

Hello bloggers!!  Well, I thought I would start here on the blog, followed by facebook until I can get an email out to everyone.  Given that Yvonne has taken employment elsewhere and I cannot afford to add any new payroll, I have made the decision to change things up a bit by closing a couple of days a week and reducing our hours on open days.  This was not an easy decision for me at all but I need some personal downtime for various reasons and feel that this is one of the best alternatives for the time being.

With all that said and done, our new schedule is as follows effective Monday, 5 September 2011.  It is sort of cool to start on a holiday.  Just may make the transiton easier for all of us.

Mondays - CLOSED

Tuesdays - CLOSED

Wednesdays, 12:00 noon - 6:00 pm

Thursdays, 12:00 noon - 6:00 pm

Fridays, 12:00 noon - 6:00 p.m.

Saturdays, 10:00 am - 5:00 pm

Sundays, 12:00 noon - 4:00 p.m.

The days and hours eliminated reflect our slowest periods so I am hopeful that the new schedule will work for everyone.  Please be sure to make note of our new schedule and help us spread the word.  I do not want anyone disappointed that we might be closed when they come to visit.  The future of Migraine Monday is being evaluated but for the time being, it is on sabbatical.  We will keep you posted.

Speaking of coming to visit, I am proposing a "Fund Raiser" like no other before it.  All of you can participate and really help to make a difference.  This fund raiser is for Friends and Company and is very simple.  Here tis.......

Yep, that's it.  We need your help and coming by to shop is what will help us.  As an incentive, I am offering 20% off your entire purchase of regularly priced merchandise beginning Tuesday, 30 August 2011 (that's tomorrow) clear until Sunday, 4 September 2011.  Call it a fund raiser, a Labor Day Sale, or whtever you would like.  Let this be a sign to us that this environment continues to exist and is strong enough to battle off the economy.  Hope to see you all soon.

OK - I'll take this one step further...... as part of the sale, all books half price, all used rubber stamps half price, and all magazines half price.  We have boatloads of all three so take advantage of this fantastic sale now!!

Yeah for Summer!!

Hey there bloggers!!  Don't you just love this weather.  No complaints here other than not enough time to sit and enjoy it like I should.  I have to admit that I also enjoy the air conditioning at the shop.  With Yvonne having recently taken employment elsewhere, I find myself at the shop more often so the air is definitely nice.

Some of us shared in some GREAT camaraderie today while we all worked on cards for the Operation Write Home project spearheaded by Dotti Harris.  She's a task master so we managed to create and/or repair nearly 250 greeting cards all ready to ship off to the troops.  It was extremely rewarding and one that we are hoping to repeat more often.  Another session is planned for tomorrow, Sunday, 28 August so if you are looking for some fun and air conditioning, please do stop by.   

We just stocked the paper racks with the two new Graphic 45 paper collections that just get better and better.  WOWZA in one word.  The Christmas collection and the ABC School collection are so very cool you will just want all of them.  We've got individual sheets along with a handful of the 12" x 12" and 6" x 6" pads.  Give me a call if you would like for me to reserve any for you. 

We said farewell to Yvonne this week as she moves her life into a new chapter.  She will be missed by me and many of you as well but we just know that she will be in to visit and perhaps even "hang" out on some play days.  We wish Yvonne much success and hope that her creative journey explodes as she finds Art East her new playground (located on Front Street).   I'm sure she would welcome your visit.

Newsletter is underway and will be complete soon.  I've come to the conclusion that classes are not what folks are looking for these days.  Not sure what is up with that but the lack of attendance tells me that we need to reevaluate classes and what is being offered.  Our fall schedule is not huge but hopefully there will be something you will like and will want to register for.  Let me know if you have any ideas and/or suggestions.

OK - this is it for one evening.  Dotti took some pictures today of the Operation Write Home event so when she is able to forward to me, I will post.  Do come by.  It was loads of fun.  Until the next time....

Migraine Monday (M&M) and More.....

Hello Bloggers!!  Just wanted to remind everyone of our Migraine Monday (M&M) class tomorrow, Monday, 15 August 2011, beginning at 12:00 noon.  This is a drop in event but a reservation guarantees that you will have a space.  A limited number of projects are planned so do call (425.391.1500) and drop on in.  We started these M&M classes last week and, with three in attendance last week, we thought it was a success.  It can only grow from there.  Cost is $5.00 and you'll make two greeting cards.  Just plain fun!!  Join us every Monday!!

Some of you will be very excited to know that our first order, although small, has been received from Invoke Arts.  This is our first order with this very eclectic company so let us know what you think.  We've got two 3-foot shelves for your viewing pleasure.  We've also received on Thursday the Lockhart's auto ship for Fall.  Great new designs from Karen plus her limited edition 2011 Globe so stop in to take a look at this line as well. 

We have more than tripled our book section now benefiting the store.  Donations are appreciated and are another means for us to help keep the store afloat.  Clean out your stash, purge, and make a donation.  Provided we are in our Issaquah location in 2012, we will, once again, divert book sales to the Tammy Fox Scholarship Fund until our goal is met for that year.  We are also accepting used rubber stamps that, once again, benefit the store greatly.  Tired of some of your designs?  Bring them in and we'll add them to our stash.  We totally appreciate the support. 

You are likely to see gift items, baskets, and other "things" that we have been working on.  Gift items are generally used but in excellent condition.  A few pieces of collectible milk glass, some baskets, and household items are also on the agenda.  As you can see, we need to divert and allow other "things" to be sold.  We are hoping that ultimately all of these efforts will pay off big time.  Stay tuned.....!!

Operation Write Home (OWH) - Spearheaded by Dotti Harris, the OWH event scheduled for Sat and Sun, 27 and 28 Aug 2011, is in full swing.  A-2 sized card donations are pouring in and we can honestly say that Dotti's goal of obtaining 1,000 cards for this event will be easily surpassed.  Please note that only A-2 sized cards with no glitter can be accepted and will be forwarded to the folks in Federal Way who manage the shipping, etc.  It's been loads of fun and we are hoping that, in addition to donations, many people will come to the two-day event to make cards.  We provide all the materials but if you want to donate items like double stick tape, please do so.  We'll continue to write about OWH in future correspondence but mark it on your calendar!!
