Hello Bloggers!! I think that this past week has been fabulous as far as weather goes. I'm sure many would like it hotter but, for me, it is just right. My tomato plant is doing well. I'm excited to have it in the yard even if it is the only thing that I planted. I'm hoping to be able to share its yield so time will tell. If you see tomatos at the shop, then you will know that it was a success.
I spent the day today at the Scrapbook Expo held in Puyallup. Sandy Huff, Jean Mendal and I set off to seek fun while Glenn Huff catered us with door to door service. Very fun. I did my share to support the event and will have several projects to prove it just as soon as I get them done. I'm sure many of you can relate to that one but I am excited to have these projects in my hip pocket. The show was small but I am delighted that we attended. We wrapped it up with a super lunch and a visit to Impress (love that competitor!). After weeks of anguish and uncertainties, it was just what the doctor might have ordered.
Speaking of the doctor, the news is much better than initially thought. The brain tumor which has graced my life is not cancerous so that was music to my ears. It is very treatable and so we have begun with a treatment plan of oral meds to shrink and maybe even eliminate the tumor. Other than wanting to vomit and lots of dizziness, I am feeling pretty good. I experimented with sleeping sitting up and it seems to keep the symptoms down so despite the discomfort, it is what I am doing until I can lay horizontal again. I totally appreciate all the prayers and throughts for positive healing that have come my way. I am confident that all will be well given some time but do keep those prayers coming!
The store continues to be for sale and, since my last blog, we have posted a "for lease" sign in the window. Whichever "event" comes first is the one we will take. In the meantime, we need for you to keep us in mind when looking for projects and materials to go with them. Sales have been down and we need to significantly boost our monthly sales to come out even for the month. Not sure what is happening but it will hopefully change with your help!
As time evolves, it is also my plan to integrate other "things" into the store that may not be directly related but that could help with monthly sales. Some of my thoughts include increasing our book sales once our $500.00 dollar commitment to the Tammy Fox Scholarship Fund has been met. Also, increasing the used rubber stamp sale section is underway. I am looking at some jewelry consignments and also a new product called Shelf Reliance which is dried food for the kitchen, camping, or for disaster preparedness. That one should be interesting. If you have any suggestions, I am open to hearing about them.
I guess this has to do it for one blog. It's already getting late and I am at the shop on both Saturday and Sunday so I need to get some of the sitting up rest (oh boy!!). If you stop in, let me know you have read this blog and receive 20% off your entire purchase on both Saturday and Sunday (7/16-17). That may be worth the trip out if you are looking at big ticket items. It'll be fun to see some of you and also catch up on "stuff" so do come and visit. With that in mind, good night and until the next time..... take care!!
Hugs - Doris
