Hello Bloggers!! What a fabulous day the weather was today to welcome summer. I soaked up some of the rays as did lots of folks I suspect. I loved looking at my single tomato plant and wondered what size fruit it would bring. That is assuming it will have fruit at all!! hee hee. My sister Alice loves to watch her garden grow so I thought I would start out with a tomato plant and see what happens. Perhaps next year I will look into something bigger like in years past when I planted a little bit more. It's just plain fun to watch grow.
In my last blog, I reported that Friends and Company is up for sale. This fact remains true, however, we are also going to attempt at leasing the space to perhaps a new business. Whichever alternative comes first is the one that we'll move forward with. I'm throwing in a third just for kicks you might say. If anyone has wanted to start up a business and has been reluctant, I am willing to share the space that we currently have. A like business would be great but I would never turn down an ice cream shop as an example. Let me know of any interest.
Many have asked "why". The bottom line remains simple. Sales are extremely sluggish and meeting our monthly financial obligations has become impossible. New owner, new blood, and new money could change all that. This industry is by no means done. It's on sabbitical you might say. If sales were to improve in the very near future, we might even reconsider what direction we go in. I am still battling medical issues so I need to take all that into account as well. I'll keep you posted as best I can as "things" evolve. I really appreciate hearing from so many of you and expressing your thoughts. Stop in any time but don't be taken aback when you see the "for lease" sign in the window.
Karen Lockhart's visit was fun and informative. We taught a total of 24 students throughout the day who all seemed to be enjoying themselves while learning some of Karen's techniques. Working with the stylus is our featured demo for Wed, 22 Jun. Should be fun while we play with the stylus and one of Karen's newest designs. Stop in between 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm if you are in the area and see what it is all about. A few pictures, compliments of our local photographer, Dave Saylor, are posted below. I'll post more in the next blog as well.
I hope the week is GREAT for everyone. Most schools are now out so we can move into some summer fun and frolic. Be sure to let some of that include rubber stamping or art in general. It's a great stress reducer all the while having fun. Take care everyone..... until the next time...... hugs - Doris
